Residing in the charming town of New Canaan, Connecticut, the Falls Village Cafe is located within a historic building that once served as the town's post office, town-hall and historical society museum.
Input Creative Studio was commissioned to develop a design vocabulary that respects the history and architectural language of the town, while providing an updated and relaxing coffee shop experience.
Upon entering, one is greeted by a bold neon sign paired with comfortable rattan seating next to a sleek minimal fireplace. This design move sets off the tone for the juxtaposition of melding old and new within the space. The original eastern yellow pine floors were restored and refinished, paying homage to the bones of the structure.
Black bead board wainscoting carries throughout the cafe, both grounding the seating area and creating one continuous bold line that visually connects the seating area to the bar.
Ceiling beams, white shiplap cladded walls and layered lighting further enhance the upscaled rustic feeling of the cafe.
The Falls Village Cafe provides customers with an updated glimpse back in time in a cozy, yet fresh environment.
